If you can't get an agent or don't want to there are lots of auditions you can find on the internet. There are newsletters you can subscribe to that will update you on auditions they think will suit you weekly but that costs money. If you do get an agent remember they should not charge you anything until you get paid. A good website to find auditions is: auditions.com
If you really want to be on TV/in movies start off small as an extra because this may not seem like much but it will look good on a CV when you apply for bigger jobs. Most big TV shows are always looking for extras and small parts so you could try sending them letters including a head shot, experience and a bit about you.
Good luck in your future acting career!

Broadway has more talented actor's than TV ever could. A play or a musical has a more swifter motion than TV. In TV you sit around the set, until the director decides to have you work. Trust me, I've done it.
First; you can't decide that you want to make your future from something you've never tryed. You'll end up working at a fast food franchise.
Second;Broadway is not some place people end up when they don't make it into film. It's actually a bigger challenge to make it on Broadway than it is TV.
And Finally; a "try out" is what it's called when you try and get a spot in a school talent show, most people call TV "try outs" (which is one word by the way) auditions or casting calls.

SOME valid answers here. Certainly there are 'Trades" publications that advertise open auditions.
I don't mean to sound offensive, but when you stand on the stage taking hold of your first OSCAR, ask those of your peers where they began, or found alternate work. I promise you, many did find fans ON LIVE STAGE. AND often the best, return to Broadway...
TV,,,sigh... Commercials and voice overs are also a place to begin.

Find a job at some great restaurant in New York, or LA, and get to the magazines or papers that deal in the arts. But, it can take many years to find something unless you are very very good. My Son went to Julliard and works in New York doing some off Broadway stuff, but you have to be willing to work more than one job for sure. My daughter in law is a professional dancer who travels all over the world dancing, she danced for Stephen Petronas, but she also works at a bank. Get the education you will need it to compete!

Call the drama department of the city where you live and ask them how you can find auditions.
You need 10 to 12 years of acting lessons, before you can audition.
Actors have auditions, not try outs, learn the terminology!
Television shows are in made in Los Angeles, California and New York City. Do you live in either of those cities?

Tv shows have auditions and you need to have an agent to book them. Most are in LA and happen in the fall for what is known as pilot season.

I would suggest going to a talent agency. Take some professional photos and have them send it to diffrent places. You could become a model, and then maybe could be promoted. But I think going to a talent agency is the best.
