It's really mood point. If I have to get things done right away, then I'll sprint up if it's clear. Most times I walk steadily up. When I am with my kids, I stand. Sorry, I hold my toddler's hand up the escalator, and no you can't get past us side by side. I understand when I'm in a hurry, I don't hem and haw that I have to co-exist with other humans that surround me! ie: earlier answerer.

I usually stand on normal escalators but walk on the "moving sidewalk" type, like in airports. If I do walk on a normal escalator, then only down..never up!

I stand if I wanted to walk I would take the stairs..lol I thinks its funny seeing people walking up the escalators, thinking just because it moves that they will get there faster by walking up them rather than the stairs..Its about the same time either way.

I stand still...then I walk a little...and stand again 'til I step off the escalator.

on stair escalators i usually stand and enjoy the ride. but on the flat moving escalators at airports i usually walk.

I fell down an up going escalator for 3½ hours until the recue team saved me. So I take the stairs now.

lol i always used to walk as i suffer from intense boredom when i'm not doing anything.
but one day i was wear this long gorgeous green cheesecloth dress, which proceeded to be EATEN by the escalator!!
it was incredibly surprising and i ended up walking (quickly) out of the mall in a very short green cheese cloth mini-dress!!
so now i stand still and hitch my skirts up a little!! lol

Walk unless I'm tired and then I'm there for the ride. As a child we use to play tag in the big department stores lol Security guards could run fast! LOl
