I'll have a PG who takes it to the basket so that once the defense collapses on him he can dish a pass to an open teammate. A point good guard should be a pass-first player and driving to the basket gives him lots of opportunities to create a higher percentage play. If he can finish himself, just like Tony Parker, then that's a bonus.

I play point guard and as for my experience in playing that position it would be better if the point guard can attack the basket attract the defense then create opportunities for his teammates and if he can finish it would be better too...but to be more effective in that position and be more unstoppable, a point guard should have both...attack the rim, slash to the lane, break the zone then finish or pass to an open teammate or be ready to hit an open jump shot....i'm a pure shooter in the 3 but i think it would be better if a point guard can attack and create opportunities...

Its a team game, so depends on the team. If there are 3 guys that can drive and a center, then it would be nice if he could shoot. On a team of shooters, you need someone who can create. The point guards main job is to be the first one back on defense, so a shooter is nice, as long as others are creating.

Take it to the basket and create... all the good point guards do that.. shooting is important but creating is key and that comes from driving to the basket

either works because if he is driving, he's attracting attention and someone is open on the outside - assist. If he's on the perimeter, his big men can work in the post - assist.
Personally, I would prefer a slasher, because the other positions are better at shooting threes than driving, and you always need a threat to drive and a threat to pull up and shoot. Heck, today's centers can even shoot threes.
