I've installed miles of fence. What type or types have you considered? The process is different in some finish ways for Stockade or Chain Link.

ALL will need Posts and holes dug for the posts. All will need accurate measurements for either wooden fence sections, Vinyl/PVC sections/ Chain Link top or bottome cross pipe sections.

Describing what you prefer will help answer your Q more accurately.

An addition to answer #1. contact your city or county building dept. most cities have certian specifications that must be met, such as highth of the fence, set back form the property line, and in some cases what the fence can be made out of. Most of these people are nice and only want to help. It would be heck to build the fence and have someone come by and tell you, you had to take it down or change or move it.

You could go to the library or a home center, many good fencing books are available for DIYers.

Defiantly worth the education, installing fencing can be back breaking work but for any one who has the basic concepts of square, level and plumb down should be capable of doing an acceptable job.
