Others have already said maple was the wood used, but you might find this quote interesting:

"Oregon installed the maple floor used in the 1990 Goodwill games in Seattle, which I might add, looks really sharp."

On some of our courts on the south coast of Oregon, we have Myrtlewood floors. Talk about beautiful and hard!

Maple is the best though it's quite expensive. Some courts are made of mahogany.

I believe it's a treated pine. Lots of wax on it too...
