While wind and brass instruments as well as pianos are sold by brand, string instruments are not. Rather than looking for a brand, go to a local string shop (there would be plenty of these in any major city) and try some out in your price range (probably $1,500 or less). Look for a sound that is pleasant to you (having a private instructor help is a great idea) and keep in mind that you will have to buy the bow separately.
Congrats on your interest/accomplishments! Good luck!

Do you have a teacher yet? If so, let them advise you.
Violins are much more individual than most instruments. Don't go looking for a particular brand, look for one that sounds good and feels good.
Personally, I would recommend buying a used instrument. A new instrument will depreciate the moment you buy it, whereas used ones hold their value very well. Plus the tone changes as the violin ages. Some new violins sound great when you buy them, and then just die on you, especially if they were recently imported from a country where the weather is different from yours. If you buy a used instrument that has been in your area for some time, you know pretty much what you are getting.
Many music shops sell instruments on consignment. That may be the easiest thing to do, since you can get the violin set up, strung, etc. at the same place. Bring your teacher or a violin-playing friend along. Better yet, rent an instrument for the first year. When you can play a bit yourself, try a whole bunch of instruments. If it sounds good and feels good, buy it, and don't worry about the brand.

There are all kinds of brands of violins out there, and professionals play whatever brand they may have chosen. There isnt really a popular brand, though.
BTW- a Stradavarius is EXTREMELY expensive because they are very rare. In the US, you cant even TOUCH one for less than a million dollars. Thats how valuable they are lol.

I don't know a brand but German hand made violins are preferred.
Stradavarius violins ? Didn't you all read the word "reasonable" in question?

The answerer just above me made the exact point I was going to, but I felt the need to post that I agree entirely with the fact that we don't buy based on brand names, except the Italian masters, but on sound. Good Luck.

the 3 most famous violin brands are
Stradivari, Guarneri and Amati (all italian)
but they haven't a reasonable price, they are horribly expensive :D
a good violin manufacturer among many others is Fritz Reuter & Sons, Inc.

Youre a begginer so you may try Greman violins , if you plan to continue your violin for long or youre lifetime then you may buy a stradivarius or a ruggeri violin. they very expensive coz they were made in the 17th and 16th century respectively. But thier price is huge, damn huge. Im planning to buy a ruggeri violin.
