my wireless connection drops about twice a month for 30+ mins... the only way i can get it reconnected is to reset from my XP machine... which takes forever sometimes... meanwhile... my Vista laptops and network are useless

Well, what you are asking is a little confusing. So, you have a broadband connection from either a cable modem or DSL modem. Then that is hooked into wireless router, I guess. Then the two computers are connected to the router. So, when the "connection drops" is that between the computer and the router, or the router and your ISP. If the IP you lose is the router connection, then unplug the router and re-connect it. If you want to reset the IP, then go to the Start bar, and type CMD into the search box. Then from a command prompt, first type "ipconfig /release", then type "ipconfig /renew" that will force the router to reissue an IP address and reestablish a connection. If the IP lost is that of the ISP, then unplug the cable/DSL modem and reconnect it, the unplug the router and reconnect it.
