To be a teller, usually they will want to see that you have had some type of customer service or cash handling experience.

If you were a cashier at a retail store (like Walgreens) that helps.

Also, banks will check your credit, and criminal history before they will hire you, so make sure those are squeaky clean.

Usually, but not always, banks will also want to see that you've graduated high school, and are going to college. (that is at least for teller positions).

Also, see if you have any friends working for banks that can give you a reference. Sometimes your friends will be glad to, because the bank will pay them a bonus for referring you.

Dependant on your work history it would be good to have customer service and cash handling experience. Most banks these days have you apply online, it can't hurt to try and most of them are looking for summer help even if its part time.

become an intern in the summer by volunteering.
