I'm English and have traveled extensively,I have never visited the U.S.A and have no desire to do so.Do I envy their education?I think not.Do i want to go and live there? No,never. This myth that America won the two world wars, neither of which were entered into until they were both more than half finished,is simply that,a myth.Every war that the U.S.A has entered into after the second world war, they have either resoundingly lost or it has been a stalemate although I must admit they did wipe the floor with Grenada. In the countries that I have traveled to and lived in,you always hear them before you see them. Before the Twin Towers episode or 9/11,as they like to call it,New York police would go around the bars and saloons collecting money to buy arms for the IRA and ship them to Ireland. This,I saw in several documentaries and from reports from the Royal Navy that had stopped ships from the U.S.A and bound for Ireland, full of arms and amunition but,as soon as 9/11 happened,it was George Dbbya Bush and "Americas wore on terr" that is as close as I can come to his pronunciation of 'War on terror',The collecting of money to fund the IRA stopped.Yes you are powerful and rich, this is true but do I aspire to your lifestyle,NO,NO,NO.
Rude?yes.Arrogant?yes.
Despised?yes.
Hated?yes.
Congratulations.

I have issues with George Bush - and I thought all the Americans did as well until they voted him in again. I don't see why America has to stick there nose into everything, particularly when they have so many problems domestically. How can you convince a country that your way of doing things is right, when anyone who looks in your backyard can see that things are very wrong indeed.
Most of the Americans I have met are quite loud and rude. These are the people I run into on holidays like at the Tower of London where one woman was Anne Boyleyn and Jane Seymour in a past life. Another American lady in the dungeon proclaimed "I sense very bad things happening here - I'm am psychic you know".
davidg32 - not every other country is asking for aid, and not everyone wants to go there.

First of all, nothing sucks like desperation and poverty... Secondly, you have to analyze your question to get an answer.
Why do we hate anything. Usually the reason is that we hate things we dont understand, dont have the same values as we do, or dont look or act the same as we do. That is a basic survival skill. As man evolved we survived by grouping and having common values within that group. There fore hatred and racism are an expression of moral group beliefs driven by group behavior.
Why does america suck. Honestly I believe that we have the power to change anything. So if american sucks and you dont do something to change it you are partially at fault for making it suck. Honestly I dont believe that change can occur through force or hatred or terror or death. I believe that change can only occur in a loving caring free environment. This is why america is so successful. When it needs to change to support growth it changes. That is why other nations and cultures are not as successful. Thier belief system does not allow for freedom choice and so the only way to change is by threat, dictate, terror or death.
I would rather not hate those that chose differently than me or hate those with different values. I would rather gently assist in the change process and hope that eventually others would see my point of view.
Man evolved, cultures evolve, nations evolve, archaic beliefs are what keep us teathered to the past.

America is hated because it exerts imperialistic power over weak countries. I can say this because I come from a multi-cultural family, and I am able to see it from both sides. I'll tell you, my mom's side of the family (Iranian) is not in the least bit jealous of America. Actually, they are quite turned off by Americans. They see America as a country full of fat, gluttonous, obnoxious people. It really doesn't suck though. There are plenty of nice places to visit if you ever get the chance, and millions of perfectly polite, humble people.
And, I have never met an American who was mistreated in another country (because of nationality). Maybe Americans have that reputation in Australia because they are disrespectful tourists? I know travelling to Australia from here costs an arm and a leg... maybe you just get the people who have too much money. I really don't know.

Not all of us suck or are rude, I think we are very fortunate to live in this country, we really have everything we need here. Would I live in a 3rd world country NO, but I do enjoy visiting them, the people are very humble and it's very relaxing. Reality, There's No Place Like Home.

I am an american, and I am not proud of it. If I could change all of these things I list, I would do it at any cost. America sucks because we are a self-righteous, self-centered nation. Because we have ignored the genocide in Africa to fight a war for oil. Because we send young men and women to fight a pointless, self-serving battle. Because we refuse to address the issue of climate change and carbon emissions. Because we show little to no concern for the mass extinctions, draughts, floods and other things caused by said climate change. Because big business is more important than the little people. Because we don't take care of our veterans, we leave them homeless, destitute, without limbs, horribly psychologically scarred. Because religion rules our country. Because people are still racist and bigoted. Because george bush is our president and has ruined all our foriegn relations. But most of all, because the population in general is okay with all of this. They believe it is status quo, and follow blindly down the path to self destruction.

I talk with a lot of people from other countries and the one common thing I hear is that it's not the American people they hate, it's the government. Of course we're the dingbats who keep electing our government. I don't usually bring that up in conversation though.

Well I don't think it's quite all like that.
However some of the issues span from the US being made up of so many different people, and allowing people to chose what they believe in(for the most part). As far as terrorists and the United States go that is the main issue.
There also is the small issue that we have an imbecile as President, I don't think that goes over to well.

wtf is this question. Have you met every American? I don't think so. We are the same as anyone in the world except that we have different accents. By the way, I wouldn't be talking about rude arragant asses considering you are one of them.
Are you talking about the sterotypes for americans. Meet at least a hundred before you make up your mind.

Please don't drag Aussies down with your hating ways. I am an Aussie, to me America is just another country filled with good and bad just like Australia. You are way too into the stereotype then anything else. Please stop pretending to be so 'worldly' because you sound like a 13 year old boy trying to stir up sh!t.
