I went in for a scheduled c-section with my second. The thing I remember most is the rushing to wait. They had me there at 5:30 in the morning, my c-section wasn't scheduled until 7:30.
I went in, registered, they made me take another shower, and use some antibacterial soap on my tummy. I read the paper. Then the anesthesiologist came in to talk to me. I read the paper some more. Then they gave my this horrible shot of nasty to drink. (tasted like orange soda without the syrup..just fizz) It was to keep my from puking while in surgery.
I got geared up, the paper hat, booties, as did my husband. Then I read the paper some more.
Finally they took my into the OR where I was given the spinal block, listened to them count the instruments, waited for the doc to come in and get started. He almost started without my husband being there! LOL
We started at 7:50 am and my son was born at 8:04. He was an "I don't know" baby. Good thing I read the paper that morning...he was eventually named Joshua after reading an article.
Good luck, try not to worry, it will be scary but it will be fine.

I had an emergency section for my first, and scheduled for my second. I was just nice to know when the baby would be coming with #2 because I could make arrangements for the care of #1. I also had a spinal for my anesthesia which was different from the first, which I was completely knocked out for. I got to see the birth of #2 and was more aware, which was nice. I'm sure your doctors have prepared you for what to expect, and you know a bit more about the recovery, and baby care, etc. SO you'll be fine.

Well, you have already experienced a c-section, so you know what to expect in the pain department. The difference is when you schedule a c-section, it feels like checking into a hotel. You sign your papers, go to your room, and get ready. You know not to eat so as to not get sick on the table and then you soon have your baby. You are able to prepare more with a scheduled c-section. With an emergency c-section (like I had) it's like a whirl wind and you don't get to prepare for it (physically or mentally). This time you know what to expect, so it will seem a lot easier. Good luck.

you will know what to expect this time i had a scheduled with my first and an emergency. for my second which was at 1 am i was so tired afterward that i didn't really pay him or the situation much attention i just wanted to sleep. with my daughter i went in in the morning after resting all night and had her at 10 in the morning fully aware of what was going on. i was more scared the first time i didn't realize the pain of having to stand after a section most women think its an easy way out. just remember the big knickers so they don't sit on
your scar good luck to you and your beautiful new baby
ps if i ever have another i will be having a scheduled ceaser

An emergency c-section is when you are already in the room about to give birth and your doctor says that he had to let you do the c-section way at the last minute. A scheduled c-section is when the doctor already knows you can't do it normally and have to do it the c-section way. Hope that helps! Good Luck by the way!

Just my opinion: In saying that I just wonder why women just don't have their babies naturally if they can ?? One thing is I have had 4 children the last 2 being twins and all of them were born naturally no c-sections... I was in the hospital with my first the longest which was a day and a half.. After having my last 2 I was home after 18 hrs.. Plus I was able to care for my boys without any limits or pain.... And also why does so many people want to know if the baby is a he or she ... What ever happened to SURPRISES????
Congrats and Good Luck....

emergency is an unplanned c-section, whereas a scheduled c-section is planned, you get an OR booked just for your surgery, and it also prevents you from going into labor and them having to operate hastily without much planning. This way they can plan the surgery, how they will cut, and the doctor can consult with you before he does the c-section. THey are probaby doing this one planned because they don't like to have natural births in a mother who has already had a c-section, they worry the scar could rupture during birth and would rather not risk your life.

I had 2 c-sections...tje first was with my oldest due to her being breech and my 4th child because I was bleeding after my water broke and I found that the second time was not as hard as the first and the recovery time was faster and easier to deal with since I knew what to expect.
