Absolutely! If someone has done you wrong, it is your right as an American, (pay attention James), to resolve the situation. I had a brother steal my identity and ruin my credit which affected my family. If he had not corrected the issue, he would have served 5 to 10. You don't mess with my family!

It does involve family, it is necessary, and I do take the steps. You see, we live in a two story house, and sometimes I have to go downstairs to get some milk for the kids to go to sleep. ...... and we have no elevator, so I take the steps.

If it was necessary then I wouldn't have a choice. So the answer is yes.
Although I wouldn't take the stairs, I am too lazy for that. That is a good father that is!

Obviously depending on the crime of course !
If only a little misdemeaner NO !
But if it was something big, ABSOLUTELY !
It would break my heart to do so, but I think I would
have a moral and legal obligation to do so.

I do hope like hell you are not American, as it would be a disgrace for a American to ask such a foolish question, what the hell are you talking about? take steps for what? this is stupid.
