Your IP address is given to you by your Internet Service Provider. You have only 1 IP address per computer. Think of it as a "phone number" for your computer. It is what the Internet uses to "call" you. Just as you do not need a different for number for each of your friends who wants to call you, so you do not need a different IP address for each Internet site that wants to call you.
If you want to see your IP address, click on the Start button. Click on Run. Type in the word: command
In the window that appears type in: ipconfig
Four lines of information will be displayed with your IP address as the second line.

Every time you connect to the internet, your computer gets assigned a different dynamic IP. This is usually the way every computer gets there IP address. There is also a static IP address, which is very seldom used. You can request a static address from your service provider, which will cost you so much a month so others can find you on the internet. click>>

Loaded question.. but let's assume a couple of things..
1st are you connected to the net via dsl? or cable? if so, then your cable modem/dsl modem gets it IP address from your provider automatically.
If you are a dial-up customer, then you get an IP address which is different each time you connect to the web.
If you are behind a Router then you have an address of 192.168.X.X.
You can also google "IP Address" and the web site will tell you what your address is.. also, you can go to command prompt, and use the command... ipconfig and that will tell you what your address is.. when finished, type "EXIT" and the prompt will go away and you will return to windows.

Generally speaking, your IP address will be assigned by your internet service provider, so you will have different internet IP addresses as you sign on to different ISPs.
You can find out what your internet IP address is by going to this website:

easiest way is to go to www.cmyip.com and it will show you.
Your ISP may generate you a session IP for the period you are on-line, but your IP address should stay teh same no matter where you browse unless you use a proxy site to mask your true IP.
cheers
