The best basketball player in the world right now is no doubt Kobe Bryant. He can score at will from close to the rim or 30 feet away from the rim. He is the most explosive scorer in the NBA, and when he finds his rhythm, he can single-handedly win the game. He scored 82 points against the Raptors last year. Bryant can take on double and triple teamed and still make tough shots.
Steve Nash is the best basketball team player right now. He can see everyone on the floor and pass the ball to open teammates. He can also score at will when he is needed to.

I think you have to think of the player that makes the biggest difference in their teams overall game. This player is Manu Ginobili. He didn't have the best regular season, but in the playoffs no one comes close. The things he does to make his team win when they need to makes him the best basketball player "right now."

Tough question, but overall, it's gotta be Dwayne Wade. Just compare his stats to everyone else:
He finished 1st in the league in steals (2.1 per game), 4th in scoring (27.4 p.g.), 8th in assists (7.5 p.g.), and he shoots 49% from the field.
I don't think anyone else can top that combination right now...

Love him, or hate him: I would say Kobe Bryant. He is very arrogant, but you can't question his skills... The scary thing is that he is only 28. A close second would be LeBron James. He is only 22 and getting better every year.
