Wait at least until you're in the 2nd trimester. God forbid something should go wrong, you wouldn't want to have to put that famous 6-word novel in the newspaper that says: "For sale: Baby shoes, never worn."

No I would wait until 12-13 weeks. Hopefully nothing would ever happen but if for some awful reason you had a miscarriage you wouldn't want this new baby stuff around to remind you of your loss. Hold out just a few more weeks and then you can go have fun!!!

I would suggest you start window shopping! Make a list of things you know you will need and keep an eye open for best prices or specific patterns/styles you like. If you are lucky enough to have friends and family who will give you a baby shower, let them purchase some the the pricey items like cribs, strollers, furniture.

Also, if you aren't far enough along to tell people you are expecting, you might want to hold off. If you absolutely must go shopping NOW, try finding a pregnancy diary to write your thoughts and feelings, keep mementos, and remind you of information from doctors' visits. Maybe find a CD of music you'd like to play for baby while they're still in your womb.

I am 22 weeks, and I haven't bought one thing yet! I wouldn't at six weeks simply because you are not out of the woods as far as risk of miscarriage goes (not to get you down), that's not really ever over, but they consider the real risk over once you hit 12 weeks.

If you would like, it would probably be a really good idea to just put money away, like on a gift card or something. Then you can have a shopping spree in a few months.

Wait until you are over 3 months. The probability of miscarriage is highest in the first 3 months. Not that you will miscarry, but just to be sure, it is better to not have to look at the baby stuff when you've just lost the baby. I have a couple of friends that have gone through this, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

(mom of twins here). Yeah you should wait to see if it's a boy or girl and everything is normal and ok, Then go shopping but keep all the reciepts. When you get huge, you are not goin to want to go shopping (at least i didn't , and couldn't cause i was on bed rest). But i think you will feel better and enjoy your pregnancy if you get stuff done now while you can. I wish i did more prepareing instead of waiting .

I would....I already started shopping and I'm not even pregnant. Its up to you and your budget. When I go to the mall I stop and bring home 1 item. You can start small and gradually buy more. Just remember you will probably have a ton of stuff if you are having a baby shower. Good luck...

Start saving if anything.. I would wait after six months though as far buying baby stuff already.. Within in the first 3 months are highest risk for losing your baby..

I wouldn't if i was you. if you start shopping now and you have a misscarge having all the baby stuff around will make it harder for you. Wait until your first trimester is over then start.
