"if" opens up many possibilities. I would tend to answer a question that started with "if" before others. It could be anything from "if you were I" to "if people from Mars came to live with you..."

These open doors to possibilities. They begin what essentially become opinion questions the answerer can attempt to fill in the details of, and the asker can gain a basis for research from. Why questions are never definitive, I would say.

"Why" is a floodgate. Listen to a young child. "Why" simply starts and then it continues.

"IF" - possibilities are endless like imagination and these questions open the door and sometimes push you through
(also "What if...")
