when u multiply a number and a percentage u are finding the percentage of that number for example( 100 x .01 = 1) but when u divide it its 10,000. what are u finding when u divide the numbers?

If you divide 100 by 1%, you are finding the number that 100 is 1% of.

Example 1
5% of £80
= (5 / 100) x £80
= £400 / 100
= £4
Example 2
5% of £80
= (5/100) x £80
= (1 / 20) x £80
= £4
Example 3
5% of £80
= 5 /100 x £80
= 0 .05 x £80
= 0.5 x £8
= £4
The above examples show a number of ways of obtaining the same answer.
The division you mention is irrelevant so don`t dwell on this.
