A- They all make millions of dollars playing a sport.
B- Attitudes; almost everyone you mentioned is an ***.
C- They are public figures playing games attended by tens of thousands and watched by millions. These people pay money and by god, the superstars better deliver. So, when they don't deliver, when they can't live up to their paycheck, they become the center of negative attention.

I will give you A Rod, Kobe, and Owens. The others are justified for their criticism. I think Michael Vick is very deserving of all the criticism he gets. He is paid a helluva lot of money and can't stay away from weed, c'mon. The recent accusations, if true, of him being a major player in the dog fighting business makes him look like a very despicable person.

The media reports what they know people will tune in to read, see or hear.
If a professional athlete does the littlest thing out of line, or says something that the media knows will make some people angry, they jump on it immediately.
They take statements out of context and they blow the whole thing up as big as they can because they know that's what the public want to hear.
Fans of professional sports take them very seriously, and they absorb this stuff just like a sponge.
How many times have you seen after a game, instead of going into the winning team's locker room to interview, they go into the losing team's locker room and find the most pissed off player in there and start asking him questions that they know he will give answers to he will regret later?
The media is the culprit, but they only broadcast, televise and print what sells. The information they provide is what makes all the fans form their opinions about these players.
None of us actually know any of these players, or do we ever get to hear their side of the story, because the media doesn't want you to hear it.

I'll answer your question with a question...Why do some people in every sport have to be the center of attention?...And I think in baseball, you are missing Barry Bonds...They all bring it on themselves...They are seeking the media attention...They are selfish...
