A baby laying in the transverse position is basically laying sideways - head at one hip, bum at the other.
The normal, head down position is where the baby's head is down, in the mother's pelvis, bum and feet are up.
Breech is when they are bum down in the pelvis, and the head is up by the mum's lungs.

Transverse position means that the baby is laying sideways in the uterus. Vertex is the way the baby should be during labor (head down). Breech is when the baby has it's feet down.

I am 20 weeks pregnant with my third and this one is transverse. He/She refuses to move!! The head is on my left hip - the spine is across my belly and the feet are on my right hip. The baby wouldn't move for my 20 week ultrasound so we couldn't even see his/her face!!! Stubborn little critter!
If the baby doesn't change position - a c-section is likely however since my other two were delivered via c-section, this one will be as well anyway.
If your baby is transverse and you would like it to move - try switching sleep positions and poking (gently) to try to get him/her to move.....
Good luck!

It's when the baby is laying side to side, which can make delivery very hard. If the baby does not turn, just as when in a breech position, a C-section will be done.
