No. Put some netting down over your garden until the plants get tall enough to fend for themselves. By the that time the cats will know not to go in there because they will be expecting the netting. They do not like getting their claws caught up in it, but it is harmless to them.

You get the netting at any garden centre or store that carries such items. It is often marked bird and deer netting. You can buy rolls of it and cut the lengths you need.

Also, a spray bottle filled with water or the hose will work to squirt them with; no need for dangerous chemicals.

^^ rocks? you could injure the cat and get ticketed!

Do not put ammonia in your yard; that will only attract male cats. A male cats "spray" is full of ammonia and the smell will only make them want to mark the territory as yours.

I would recommend a spray bottle with 1 part water 1 part white vinegar. Spray the cat everytime it comes into the yard - it will get the idea -

Call animal control to trap the cats that come in your yard, if the said felines don't have responsible owners.

I tried rocks. - No success
I tried a dog. - They became best friends
I tried a broom. - It's not a good look, unless you are female and 80+

That stupid cat in my neighborhood hangs around my front door and comes in when I open the door to leave the house. Then I have to chase it, catch it and throw it out.

If you find a solution, besides poison or a noose, let me know

I was wondering the same thing. My ideas is to put thorny bushes where they like to go. and I'll see what happens. The other is to plant garlic or onion, I'm hoping they won't like the smell. but my overall favorite, is that I'm going to try to get a dog.
good luck.

Throw rocks at them everytime you get a chance. They will eventually get the point and stay out of your yard. Worked for me!
