I don't think that they can as a rule change a persons viewpoint, but they can reinforce it. Such as Fareheit 9/11,I think the vast majority of people who saw it and decided they liked what it had to say were mostly aligned with its intented agenda already. I prefer those that tell a completely fictional story in order to make a message politically,I think that way a person can come to their own conclusions without being swayed by what they already believe about the actual event. My favorite of those in recent memory is V For Vendetta,a very well done portrayal of a repressive govt that could easily happen in reality, where people have essentially surrendered their freedoms in exchange for supposed safety and security. That concept might sound familiar if you pay attention to current events.

Yes, they certainly can. It is called propaganda.

The producer of such works assembles as many facts that favor his position as possible. He adds in as much supposition as he feels he can get away with and finally ignores anything that might show he is wrong.

Fahrenheit 9/11 is an example. Moore edited interviews with soldiers to only support his position. Later the soldiers went public with the truth. Other parts of the movie were later shown to be completely untrue or the result of unsubstantiated supposition. Moore admitted to these prevarications.

United 93 was an attempt at the other side. That is how brave etc we are. There are still a lot of technical people who doubt the capability of a cell phone to work under the circumstances they were purported to work under.

There are a number of other things out there on the net about 9/11. One thing says point blank that fuel burning in the towers could not have burned hot enough to bring them down. Just a couple of months ago near San Francisco a tanker truck with gasoline on board crashed and caught fire under an elevated freeway. The fire was not contained and therefore should have been cooler than in the towers. That fire melted enough steel to bring the freeway down.

The bottom line in any of these issues is "follow the money". Money for the sake of this is not necessarily cash. It can be the producers’ interests. Michael Moore is about as liberal as a person can get. It is not unreasonable to assume he slanted everything he could to make the Republican administration look complicate.

My bet is the producer of Flight 93 has some very significant conservative leanings. If you watch the film it is very pro American and that part of "American" that tends to take action and not assume a posture of wait and see...

It is just propaganda. Study some of the movies made during WWII. Lots of John Wayne stuff. Macho Americans and sneaky adversaries is the way things were portrayed. As I said, “PROPOGANDA”

Black Hawk Down.

Never heard of Elephant. Farenheit 9/11 is not a film, it is full of lies that are passed off as truth.

If you watch this, watch the true story behind it. There is a DVD set that has both. This movie showed me what ignoring the problem of terrorism accomplished.

Also, watch Lean on Me. It is about Joe Clark and what he did with leadership and love to take a NJ school and turn it around.

Sophie's Choice would be a good one to use.

Yes, anything that triggers emotion can have an extreme effect on one's political views. Sometimes, even over-riding logic.

EDIT: I am against the use of Fahrenheit, also. It's too slanted by propaganda.

EDIT: After re-reading your question, go ahead and use 9/11. It's a blatant example of how the facts can be twisted and altered to appear true. It will be easy to counter with just a few search engine clicks.

yes, and if you pay attention to the movies , T,V. shows etc almost every one of them has a subliminal political message that is designed to make one think a certain way just watch every movie or T,V, show and you will get what I mean, most people don't realize this and pay it no attention, yet they are being swayed by these messages unwittingly, the writer , producer, director are very aware of this and all support this evil plot, proably the same ones came up with P,C, it seems every one is trying to make others believe as they want them to instead of free thinking,
