We need to learn to be open minded enough to discuss this issue based on rational grounds. I do not feel that homosexuality is a manifastation of a deficit in character or emotional or mental ability. A person who is gay or has gay tendencies may be "wired" differently from birth. I know this is a throw back to the nature versus nurture argument.

We must come to grips with the reality that the human sexuality is the most complex of any animal. This is probably because we as humans have the most complex and higly evolved minds. Therefore, unlike most species our sexual envolvement is not simply an act of procreation but it is also an expression of love and communication on a very intimate level. Sometimes our interest or connection with others does not come in the package of the opposite gender.

In addition, the psychologists "Freud and Erikson" suggest that the lines human sexuality are not clearly marked. (Most people are not 100% heterosexual or 100% homosexual) Most people are some where right or left of center along a continuem.

Culture, tradition and religion has created taboos that have discriminated against certain groups based on unrational grounds. We all know that homosexuality will never be normal or normative behavior in western and especial American culture. However, homosexuality should not be viewed as an act or a transgression against God and Humanity.

I know that many of you are going to tow the line with a literalistic interpretation of scripture from the Old Testament to the New Testament. However, I will caution you, that the same scriptures were used to justify African/African American oppression from Leviticus, to the Letters of Paul. So I do not think that we should use, misuse and abuse the Sacred scriptures to justify anyone elses oppression; homosexuals.

We must be broad minded enough to look at the big picture. The cooresponding theme from the Old Testament to the New Testament is a theme of Liberation. In a literal since, in the Old Testment, the Bible talks about the Liberation of a wayward people who are looking to a Messiah to help them re-establish the Kingdom of Yehwah and deliver them from their multiple international enemies. The Gospel shares with us a Savior who will bring this Kingdom down through an act of LOVE, which led to His death on the Cross!!!! (John 3:16)
(Yes, Jesus died to liberate his people and all people)

I believe that we should share in the mission of the Long awaited Messiah. We should embrace God's Kingdom, expressed through Jesus Christ and share it with others. Abernachy called The Kingdom, "God's Beloved Kingdom."

One way to share in the Kingdom of God is to untie ourselves from the cultural and religious chains that oppress other people. We need to fight for the cause of liberation of everyone even if it leads to our own cross and blood shed.

To me the topic homosexuality is not a issue of sin, but it is a issue of SOCIAL JUSTICE. GOD'S PEOPLE ARE BEING OPPRESSED THROUGH DRACONIAN LAWS THAT PROHIBIT THEM FROM LEGAL MARRIAGE AND THE ABILITY TO ADOPT CHILDREN IN MOST STATES.

WE NEED TO SHARE GOD'S BELOVED KINGDOM TO ALL WHO ARE OPPRESS AND THIS INCLUDES HOMOSEXUALS.

OKAY.....i only read like 3/4 of that but

i think i love you : )

im always trying to explain to ppl that the whole "gods word speaks against it' arguement was used in support of inequality among women and the support of slavery. the bible is a flawed book. i personally dont see anything sacred about it. its a collection of books written by men - men do not = god. self proclaimed prophets wandering around today would most likely be sent to an asylum. i am christian but i think its foolish to take your religion - which is entirely theory and blind faith, not fact at all - and step on the necks of others who think differently is stupid. i also disagree with a lot in the bible...

HOMOSEXUALS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO GET MARRIED. point blank. marriage by law is nothing sacred, its a series of benefits and bindings for two ppl who love each other - the church can do whatever the hell it wants too. just stay out of the legislature for christ sake...

First off hippie I dont trust you. I believe gays are mad by birth or because of nuture. Either way is still bad. Second God left earth a long time ago. Get over it. Third it did states god did not like homosexuals dont remeber were but read it. It was his free choice to give us a choice it does not mean he supports all are choices. Lastly its better to have hate in the world then love. To love can bring the fall of mankind. The best inventions comes from wars like rockets. Finally for those who believe in the bible and those darn feminist that think its from a man's point of view are right but thats too damn bad. Because men will eventual be every ones downfall so why make it faster by allowing homos to run free.

Homosexuality is condemned in every society and in all cultures however it is tolerated by most.In the last twenty or thirty years there have been big changes in peoples attitude towards homosexuals, change may be slow but if you try to push it too hard there could be a big reversal in peoples tolerance.I can't see that there will be any dramatic change in the near future of the total acceptance of equal rights for homosexuals. If your argument is solely of a religious nature then the bible is quite clear but, take heart in the fact that god loves everyone, sinners included.

Do not try to pass the rabbit for cat! I am a Christian, if I see a proposal where they do not try to merge concepts. I will sign it. Since the privileges they were originally looking as visitation when the other is sick and insurance that are benefits make by man. No something ordained by God. a Marriage is the base of society because of the simple act that society start from one man and one woman. Homosexuals do not reproduce. So their relationship cannot be equal in society as marriage could it something like civil union. but do not try to change definitions.

Ok. We know the type of people that Jesus showed extra kindness to. He was the first to stand up for the whore, the leper, the Samaritan and the tax collector, the most despised people of the time.

If we know Jesus, we already know what Jesus would do if he were here today.

While I hate the whole PC thing and the gay agenda, when it comes to individuals, gays are born with a hard row to hoe it is up to christian minded people to show them common courtesy and decency.

Dude get over it. GOD HATES GAYS!!! They are called an abomination more than once in the bible, and yes the New Testament. There is no justification for it okay so stop trying to pretend that God has no problem with Gays. No where does it say 'God hates blacks/minorities'.

I'm an agnostic and I don't believe in the Bible so it makes no difference to me what you are. However, any Christian certainly knows that the bible speaks against homosexuality. You can't deny it.
