Everybody forgot an entire concept album
about being in a band and having great fame.

David Bowie"s
"The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust &
The Spiders from Mars"

The album is the story of an alien rock superstar called Ziggy Stardust who reaches fame along with his band the Spiders from Mars just as the Earth enters the last five years of its existence. He ends up the victim of his own success and becomes a "rock n roll suicide."

Listen to the songs "Ziggy Stardust" , "Lady Stardust" ,
" Hang on to Yourself " , " Suffragette City " & " Rock N Roll Suicide "

Check out this website for Bowie's Best album.
Well one in many great album he had in the early 70's.

The greatest song about being in a band is by AC/DC.

It's called "It's a Long Way to the Top (if you wanna Rock and Roll).

You can find it on their first album release...High Voltage.

Rock and Roll Star by REO Speedwagon.

Shooting Star by Bad Company might qualify, although it focuses on one individual rather than a band.
