My girlfriend's 13 yr. old boy is growing chest hair! He asked if shaving it will make it grow thicker or faster? I have no idea?

Yes shaving his hair will make it grow thicker and faster. If he wants it to grow thinner...he can try waxing. It's a tad bit painful but worth it because it will not only grow in thinner but it will also last longer than shaving.

Shaving will NOT make the hair thicker or cause it to grow faster. It looks coarser as it grows back in, though, because the end are cut off blunt instead of being softly tapered. It will make him look like he's trying not to go through puberty if he shaves, and that looks dumb, but if he lets it grow out again, the ends will wear down after a while, and then it will look normal again. It may itch really bad when it's growing out, but it's only hair, so trimming or shaving (ugh) will not do any permanent damage.

Shaving will not make any hair grow in thicker or faster.
People think that it grows thicker because shaving cuts the hair off bluntly so when it grows the hair feels coarse; it has not gotten thicker, it just feels that way.

It will even the hair out which will make it appear to be thicker. It doesn't make it any faster or anything else otherwise anyone with hair loss would be shaving their heads.
