I'm sure my 5 month old is teething. She is CONSTANTLY sucking and chewing on her hands. They are so red and yucky looking. I put socks on her hands but after time they get soaked. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Give her some Infants Tyelnol and see if she quits chewing. They chew for pain relief. The counterpressure from biting makes the pain more tolerable. Anyone that says you should not try Infant Tylenol has no idea what the medication is for. Ask your pediatrician, there isn't one around that would tell you NOT to try it.

You have to get teething toys and keep her hands out of her mouth before she gets a skin infection. Those wet socks on her hands are a breeding ground for bacteria, so you should stop that.

You'll have to teach her to bite the teethers and not her hands. She'll get the hang of it, but you have to have a lot of different things for her to bite on. They even have teethers that vibrate when the baby bites on it, my youngest loved that one!

Best of luck to you hon. All my kids had 4 teeth by the time they were 6 months old, so get ready they are a-comin'!

Try teething rings. They work wonders. Buy the kind that you can put in the freezer. Babies tend to love the cold ones. It will help your baby not so much eat their hands and it will help the teeth come in faster. They also have teething tablets that you can give your infant. They seemed to really help mine with the pain. Hope this helps and good luck

Find something she would rather chew on. Otherwise put olive oil on her hands 2-3 times a day and it should help with the irritation.

Go buy some different teething toys. They have wash clothes with rubber corners, freezable squishy toys, soft little hand held toys, all kinds of stuff!

There's also teething tabs, gels, and liquids. They numb the gums and make them less likely to chew.

Good luck!

Of course its normal for babies to suck on their hands. My son just turned 3 months on the 24th of this month and he started slobbing @ 2 months and sucking on his hands blankets bibs and burp cloths the day before he turned 3 months. Go to ur childs doc and see what they suggest. My son will not keep his socks on his hands he knows how to take them off. lol

Let her suck on her hands. That is her way of dealing with the her teeth coming in. It is not going to hurt her to chew on her hands.

they make teething towels. They have thes different textured rubber or silicone corners that the munchkin can chew on. they are also extremely absorbent and washable. you can get them at babiesrus, or you could check online at amazon! we also used frozen waffles, they absorb drool as well, but you have to watch the munchkin closely with this one, as it can pose a choking hazard! we put ours in a baby safe feeder which can also be found at babiesrus and probably amazon as well. this is awesome for introducing fresh fruits as well since they have to go through the tiny holes to make it safe and choke proof! my babies loved it, and I loved the calming effect of frozen strawberries on her while teething, because my youngest was in horrible screaming pain until I discovered this! good luck.
