I have made scarves before but this is the first time that I have tried something else. I am stuck, I do not understand what this means "Bind off 3 sts at each armhole edge once, then 3 sts once. Bind off remaining 4 sts"

Does this mean that I bind off three, then knit 3 together, then bind off three more? Help please, and thanks in advanced!

Sounds like you're binding off at the top of the shoulder (the shoulder seam).

You're creating a sloped bind-off at the top of each shoulder. The bind-off follows the slope of your shoulders--lowest at the armhole edge and highest at the neck.

You should have 10 sts at the top of each shoulder. Work one shoulder at a time.

Bind off 3 sts at the beginning of the row at the armhole edge; work the rest of the stitches on your needle. (You've just worked from the armhole edge to the neck edge.) Turn.

You're now at the neck edge. Work across all of the stitches on your needle. Turn.

You're now at the armhole edge again. Bind off 3 sts at the beginning of the row; work the rest of the stitches on your needle. Turn.

You're now at the neck edge. Work across all of the stitches on your needle. Turn.

You're now at the armhole edge again. Bind off the remaining 4 sts.

Repeat for the other shoulder.

Bind off 3 stitches, knit the remainder of the row, turn your work bind off 3 stitches at that edge, knit in pattern to the edge where you first bound off, turn and bind off 3 more stitches, same at the other edge, then turn and bind off 4 stitches at each edge. This will give you a little zig zagged edge.
