Since 1963, People found out that tobacco and smoking was bad for you, so why didn't they just make it a law that you cant use tobacco. No matter how much money the tobacco companies have, we should be able to drive them out of buisness

A lot of things are bad for you. Passing laws forbidding these things can be a bit heavy handed especially in a country that calls it self "The Land of the Free".
Processed Sugar is bad for you.
Alcohol is bad for you.
Cholesterol is bad for you.
Cars are responsible for a huge amount of deaths and create pollution which is bad for you.
Guns and bullets can certainly be bad for you if you're on the wrong end of them.
Nearly anything taken in great excess is bad for you. Even pure water believe it or not.
It's better to try to educate people to know what is bad for them or how much of a thing is bad then to simply outlaw everything that is risky or offends someone.
What I would condone is an act to ensure honesty in science. The tobacco industry paid it's own scientist for years to say smoking was not bad. That should be outlawed.

One word: Money.

The tobacco industry is working with billions of dollers, and a lot of that money is put into the hands of people who make the laws regarding smoking.

Also it is question of personal rights, how can the goverment tell a person to not do something that is bad for them without opening a pandora box of legal and ethic issues.

In the end it is a lot of issues regarding this and it wont be easliy solved with a simple law saying no. Also you have to understand that if you make tobacco illegal then you will be putting a lot of people out or work. There is no simple answer.

That is like saying no more alcohol because it causes alcoholics. You can't just band things completely like that. What you can do is get your local government or local hospitals, schools, restaurants and etc. to put bans on smoking in public places. I work in a hospital that is a university teaching hospital, with four other hospitals near us. As of July 1st. in my area of NC all hospital grounds and university grounds have banned all smoking . We are not even allowed to come into work with the smell of tobacco on us. This is how you make changes...you don't just say ok ban it from all the USA..

because the tobacco lobby is rich and powerful, and cigarettes are very addictive and people dont want to give up their bad habits, although many, many lives would be saved and the cost of medical care would be reduced if cigarettes were illegal.

We tried that with alcohol and it didn't work. It wouldn't work with tobacco either.
