You can not prevent a miscarriage. Most are because the embryo has chromosomal abnormalities.

Nothing can prevent a miscarriage of a baby conceived of two healthy people. Most of those miscarriages are caused by birth defects that are incompatible with life and these things are just going to happen when it comes to something as complex as combining DNA.

Doing things like smoking, certain narcotics, etc can increase the chances of a defect in either the sperm or the egg. They can also cause problems with the reproductive tract to prevent a pregnancy from thriving.

Sometimes hormone levels in the woman cause miscarriages, but by definition that woman is not healthy. This imbalance is generally easily fixable though.

I had a miscarriage and the doctor told me it was nothing I did, that these things happen. So I really can't tell you what the things are. I know that stress can sometimes be a factor.

My daughter is going through this same problem. She has had difficulty getting pregnant, and she did succeed once and had a miscarriage. The doctor is now checking her for diabetic ovaries. I have never heard of this, but the doctor is trying. If they find she has that, she will have to go on medication. She is not a diabetic, it would be localized to her ovaries.

You can't always prevent a miscarriage, sometimes if you detect a problem early enough, dr. can put you on bed rest or something else, but in most cases, they just happen, by the time you realize it's too late. You have to watch for the symptoms.

miscarriage is not preventable. there are things that people do that may increasse their chances like the things you mentioned but most types of mc cannot be stopped. i done everything right with my 1st pregnancy and miscarried, i done everything the same this time and im carrying to term im 30 weeks.

unfortunately, most of the time its down to bad luck and chromosomal abnormalities with the egg or sperm

Your doctor is correct - you cannot prevent most miscarriages, because most are caused by genetic factors (chromosomes, etc).

If you are known to have an "incompetent" cervix, your doctor will likely look at placing a cerclage fairly early to prevent premature dialation though.

You can't prevent it. Obviously if you do those things like you mentioned (smoking, drugs, etc) it can lead to it but other then that it can't be prevented.
