I work with premature babies and had one born at 23.5 weeks. She was 12 oz when she was born. She spent 4 months in the NICU before coming home. She had many health problems and was delayed in her development until she was bout 3 years old. She's now 4 years old and doing pretty well. Most premature babies will stay in the NICU until they reach somewhere between 36 weeks gestation and their due date.

Here's my story,
my prepregnacy weight was 95, I'm 5'3", I was 23 yrs old, & I was/am healthy. My son was born 7 wks early, he weighed 5 lbs 10 oz (big baby for that age), 18 1/2" long. I gained 25 lbs thus far in the pregnancy. For the most part he was healthy, was in the hospital for about a week, & had no negative side effects. Seeing him now, you'd never of known he was born early, he's normal just like any other kid.

My first child was born one day before the due date. Most babies are born on the due date, but some comes out one month early. I think that is the earliest a mommy can expect to give birth if it is early. But I'm not very sure. Everyone gives birth at a different times.

My first was born on his due date by scheduled c section (frank breech) any way it is rare for babies to be born on the due date!! I don't know when this one will come but I'm so ready to hold him and I have had my bags packed for about a month or so!! If you google miracle births or 36 weeks gestation you can find all sorts of neat stories of babies born early I read a billion of them!!

I have two daughters, one came at 36 weeks and one at 25 weeks. They are both extremely healthy now. Granted my 25 weeker had a very rough spot but after she came home, she's just been healthier than any full termer, doc's are amazed and say she's pretty rare to be in such great shape.
