In most cases the Native Americans were forced off their lands through military strength, but more importantly because "white" people killed off most of the buffalo herds, and for the Native Americans in the Midwest, the buffalo was basically their whole life, it fed them, clothed them, sheltered them, was a big part of their Spiritual beliefs, plus a lot more.
Many Native Americans were killed by diseases that Europeans brought with them that the Natives didn't have immunities to. They deliberately gave the Natives blankets infected with small pox after forcing them off of their land and into what basically were concentration camps and made them totally dependent on what the US government stingily doled out to them.
I doubt it had anything to do with cattle stampedes since most of the Native Americans were confined to concentration camps, er, excuse me, reservations, by the time that area of the country became populated enough to have cattle ranchers.
It wasn't at all like they show it in most movies or TV shows.
Do a little research on the Internet, you will be surprised what you will find.

There isn't enough open land in New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, etc. for stampeeds to even be imagined. There are Native Americans from more areas in our country than just the midwest. Ever hear of the "Trail of Tears".

They used the usual methods; military might, treachery, etc.

The answer is far more simple than that.... The American Indians could not replace their warrior like White immigration did for America... Also the white man killing so many Buffalo almost into extinction also played an important part in the effort to make the American Indians an extinct race..........................As for the wild west well that really only lasted about 25 to 30 years...........................................

No.

Native Americans were forced off their lands by a combination of military force, coercion, disease and denial of critical resources like water.

Stampedes would be an ineffective (and inefficient) way to try and get someone to leave their land.
