They multiple and try to invade host cells. Cancer is basically a parasite.

Cancer cells are cells of your own body that for some reason have begun to multiply when they should not. Because they are your own cells, your immune system does not recognize them as foreign.

rapidly multiply.......but it also depends on the type of cancerous cell that u are talking about...
