1. Bring your marriage license to your local SSA (social security) office. There they will issue you a new card with your new name.

2. Take that new card to your driver's license bureau...etc.

3. Next change your name on any bank, credit, or debt (student, car, or house loans)

4. Submit a change of address form to the post office with the name change.

5. Get a new yahoo email address (or gmail, godforbid the yahoo gods read this).

6. Also, be sure to change your name with your phone company if the phone is listed in your name, and tell them to make sure to update the listing information.

Hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if you need more help.

i changed mine at the Social Security office by filling out a form and waiting for a new card inthe mail. There are websites that give you all the documents you need to change your name on ALL state documents in ONE package. Its worth the money!!!

Take your marriage license, social security card and a form of picture ID with you to the your closest Social Security Office and fill out the paperwork. It is fairly painless.

Once your name is changed on your social security card, it's "officially" your new name. However, you'll still have the very long process of changing it on everything else!
