This question might be a little bit lopsided, since the Zune is intended to combat the regular video iPod, but under this competition I would have to say the Zune. The iPod nano's only real advantage is it's size, which is then compromised with it's functionality, lacking compared to that of the Zune. The Zune's one major advantage over the nano is the obvious ability to play videos. In addition, you can wirelessly transfer music with a Zune to another Zune, and the receiver can play the song 3 times before having the option to buy it. The nano is a basic color MP3 player, while the Zune is more comparable to the iPod video, with video playback and a stronger interface.

I would say Zune, but I can' really trust it. Zune hasn't been in the market as long as the iPod and you can encounter many unexpected errors, you'll never know when it'll stop working. The iPod nano on the other hand doesn't have as much features, but you can definitely count on it. They are less errors likely to occur, even if they is apple has wonderful costumer service and would help you solve your problems.
I would go with the iPod Nano.

the ipod is no match for a zune less than 30gb. the zune has radio, video, 30times the memory and wi fi and put any picture you want as your background. get the zune. you will love it. people like the nano becuse they cant afford a zune. they have never even touched a zune.

Well like some people have said..there are cool things in both of them and both are great "toys"....If you are in to size and function..get the nano..If you want lots of memory and screen size get the zune..

If you want to do more than just listen to music, get the Zune. I actually would never suggest getting anything iPod since they hae shady business practices among other pretty big criticisms http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPod#Criticisms
