He's thinks that when we say no, that it's funny. He doesn't understand the concept. So when we try and show him how to be soft he thinks it's a game. He starts laughing. My face looks like we have a kitten, and we don't own any animals. Just a baby who likes to grab and scratch every part of your face. Help!

Tell him no and move away from him. If you are holding him and he is scratching you tell him no and put him down and go do something else. If he's sitting on your lap and he's scratching you tell him no and remove him from your lap. Get up and go do something else. Caress his face often to show him how good it feels and hopefully he will get the idea. Now starts the discipline. It's not funny and you have to do whatever you can to stop it.

this is totally inappropriate because it sure seems he doesn't understand the adults are the boss. You dont have to punish him but if your face looks like that, he needs to learn that you are the boss and not to be abused. First idea would be to distract him. if that doesn't work, put him in his crib and tell him,NO,don't scratch mommy. and if he does, he needs to connect something negative with that behavior so he will stop it. Confine him somehow. They usually don't like that, put him in his high chair or such. search out love and logic online great parenting resource. As I re-read this it seems like a control issue to him, he may have a dominant personality and he is already testing you. strong willed

OMG- i can't believe someone said to spank him! WTH! I would just sit him down and tell him to use soft touches and touch his face soft with his hand or yours. 10 months old is too young to start disciplining- but distracting them can work.

i wouldnt suggest spanking him when he does it. i tryed spanking his hand once and he laughed at me and like you when i told him no he thought it was funny. im son is 10 months too and i just move his hand away. honestly i dont think disicipline will work at this age and i dont want to hit or yell at him. just keep his nails trimmed and you wont get the scraches anymore. he just wants to play
good luck

Spanking? Yeah, that works. "Hey! Stop hitting Mommy!"....WHACK! That'll teach him.

I like the other two answers you received. Tell him "No" and remove yourself from his reach for a minute or two. I know this kid man. That's punishment enough for him. Mommy said "No"...lol
