I used to get a pop up window showing me when it was low and I got so tired of it I turned it off but don't know how to run it on. And also, I went to help Compaq and my puter was running slowly and they said adjust mouse pointer click time and it sped up my puter,how does that work????????????

you have not installed the printer software that will install the printer assistant. The printer assistant will allow you to view ink levels. You could go to hp.com and download the software for your printer.

Low ink may be your problem WITH MOST PRINTERS, you are required to have ink in both the black and color ink cartridges in order to print in black as they work in conjunction with each other. So you will need to have the both color and black ink cartridges with ink, the same thing applies for color. It also is used as a lubricant that also helps to prevent print head damage. In the printer driver, there is an option for "gray scale" printing. That should use only the black cartridge , but you also will need a usable color cartridge installed for that option as some color ink is also used.
