When I try to start up my gateway2000 it says "cmos wrong cmos display wrong"?

What should i do to get it to work
I know it is old but i got it for free please help

that might not be the reason it wont start but it might not be
I want to learn more complex stuff on comp repair i think it is fun

Chnage the motherboard battery.
