Does it actually say in the bible - MARRIAGE IS BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN? If so, who cares? Why is the bible an issue when it comes to gay marriage? I have never understood this.........I mean - who is gay marriage going to hurt? NO ONE.

I agree, but some people follow the bible word for word, allowing it no room to change as our society grows. I really wish it was more accepted, my best friend is gay and it breaks my heart to see the prejudice he has to face.

What it actually says is that God took a rib from Adam and made Eve and THEREFORE man will leave his parents and join with woman to become whole again.
So the Biblical justification for men and women complimenting each other in marriage is based on a very unusual case of procreation. It is not clear if people born by more traditional methods are so bound.
Moreover, this rib from Adam deal seems like a case of assexual budding, kind of like what Yeast does, and thus the Bible proves that marriage has nothing whatsoever to do with procreation or sexual intercourse.

Plus America is supposed to protect religious freedom and not force everyone to accept a given religious belief, and many Americans do not believe in the Bible. Conservative Christians can put up with rock music and short skirts and Harry Potter in the bookstore--why not this, too?

i agree.
im strait and all but.
i think people shouldnt be so judge-mental.
they wouldnt like it if.
it was supposed to be guy and guy or girl and girl.
im pretty sure if it was that way.
they wouldnt care and they would be saying marriage should be okay for everyone.
