Hello:

768kbps is typically a moderate-speed DSL connection. 100mbps, which is approximately 100,000kbps, is typically fast ethernet. Fast ethernet would be used to connect computers on a Local Area Network, such as connecting computers at the office to one another, or connecting a few computers at home together and to a DSL or Cable Modem connection.

I'm curious why you're asking- If it's a speed question, 100mbps is 130 times faster than 768kbps.

Cheers!

You cannot buy an internet service as fast as 100.0 mbps.

What you are probably thinking of, is the connection speed that is shown in the systray (near the clock). That would be the connection speed between your computer and your router / modem only which is 100.0 mbps.

768 kbps is typical of slower DSL service. For example 768 kbps is Verizon's slowest (and cheapest) service. It denotes the maximum speed, not necessarily the speed you can actually obtain.

If you should like to check your actual internet connection speed, go here:

and test it for free.

Hope this helped.

100 mbps is probably your network connection speed (the speed at which data can be transferred through your local area network cable). If you have a 100 mbps internet connection, it's probably a T3 or a fiber optic connection. A typical high speed internet connection is 768 kbps, 1.5 mbps, 3.0 mbps, or 5.0 mbps.

It depends on what you plan to use it for. If you are planning to surf the web and send e-mail then 768 kps should be fine. However, if you plan to do heavy gaming or streaming media then 100 mbps is a bette choice.

100mbps is faster. 1mbps = 1000kbps.

m stands for mega- which means million, k stands for kilo- which means thousand. bps stands for bits per second. (A bit is 1/8th of a byte)

What would be best for you? $768,000 or $100,000,000.
