I did a virus scan on yahoo's free pc scanners and it saids that my c:\WINDOWS\browser.exe is infected with Trojan Horse but it doesn't say what kind of trojan horse since there are thousands listed on the net.

All I want to know is how do I safely remove it myself since I don't know what kind of trojan horse it has.

BitDefender 9 Professional Plus
After the scan, open BitDefender, click the Antivirus button, click on Quarantine, select the file/s and press delete.
By the way it shows the explanation for the virus too.

I'm using BitDefender for a very long time.
It also contains Antispam and Firewall.

I have tried it and its nearly impossible without some kind of coding software (anti-virus software is designed to get rid of it). You can delete some things that floated along with it. Such as random pop-ups or icons on your desktop that you have never seen before and look suspicious.
You can go into the following and look for stuff that might be a Trojan. If you don't know what you are doing then you can delete vital information which will make you operating system not work properly.

Hard drive- windows folder

Virus will hide themselves in these folders and replicate constantly hence the name virus.
This is why paying 50 or so bucks for a virus protection program is 100% worth it. Good luck and be careful.

Don't type in any passwords to sites like paypal, your bank account, credit cards, ebay, etc. Trojans can be programed to memorize your passwords.

Since you don't know the trojan name you can't manually remove it. Each trojans need to have different type of removal process. What you can do is to download a free antivirus app and use it to remove the trojan. Here's a good Free antivirus you can use : http://www.free-av.com/

What you do is get antispyware, download & install it. You can't remove it manually. Get SpyBot Search & Destroy to safely remove spyware. Best of all, it’s free. After installing it, immunize the computer against over 18,000 known pieces of spyware. Then run a full bot check and remove everything it finds using the Fix Selected Problems tab. Keep it updated and run it weekly to keep your computer free of this stuff. Then get Ad-Aware also from download.com and run it the first time doing a Full System Scan. Thereafter, run a Smart Scan daily.

Keep them both updated and use them.

in case you employ basically a command instantaneous, you will not 'competently and thoroughly' eliminate something. Use a minimum of three anti-virus anti-undercover agent ware courses in risk-free mode for finished insurance.

If you don't can give the name it's difficult to give you the correct answer.

You can try scanning with a antivirus online scanner like
http://www.bitdefender.com/ and a security/antivirus scanner like http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/home.asp?langid=ie&venid=sym&plfid=23&pkj=QVLBZTVOGXFSTZHSZPW&bhcp=1
and scan with some spyware/adware removers like Ad Aware SE Personal and Spybot-S&D.

( Download Ad Aware here http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html )

copy the browser.exe file to a flash drive and delete it in your pc. The file itself is a virus.
