My best advice is to go to http://www.fertilityfriend.com
It is the best site for learning all about your fertility and cycles!!
Other than that, Ovulation occurs about 2 weeks BEFORE your period. For most women, that's 2 weeks AFTER the start of the previous period. Most women don't notice when they ovulate. The best way to tell if you're about to is an ovulation predictor kit. The best way to tell if you've already ovulated is to track your Basal Body Tempurature. Before you get out of bed each morning, take your temp. As you track them, you'll notice that it's consistantly lower the day you start your period until the day after you ovulate. Once your temp goes up, it indicates you have ovulated, and it is usually too late to concieve at this point.
You will learn all of this and SO MUCH MORE at the above website.
Good luck!

The rule of thumb is that ovulation happens 14 days before your next period starts; so if you have a regular 28-day cycle, that's day 14 after your period started.
To get pregnant, sperm has to be waiting when the egg is released. The general belief is that the egg dies right away if it isn't fertilized. So sex up to the time of ovulation is best.
however, just to confuse things... You don't always get pregnant - sometimes the egg fails to implant in the uterus, or maybe something else happens. Also, ovulation can actually occur ANY time - just it's much more likely at the "prime time". And, sperm can survive up to 3 - 5 days waiting for an egg (depending on whose research you believe), which is why the rythm method recommends abstaining for days 10-18. So sex at least every other day has you covered - as long as you don't wash. (Ick).
So the short answer is "keep having sex, as often as possible". A couple is not considered to have fertility problems unless they've been having regular unprotected sex for a year and have not conceived. OTOH, I know a couple that had given up expecting after 20 years, and then "surprise!" - so anything can happen.

Get an ovulation predictor kit, ovulation is usually 14 days after he first day of your period but women are different, having sex 3 times a week is a good way to get pregnant because the sperm can live inside you for up to 4 days, so it's more likely to concieve if you have sex 3 times a week, hope that's helpful, good luck!!

Fertilization usually occurs about fourteen days from the first day of your period. If you have sex the 13th, 14th, & 15th day after the first day of your menses you should get pregnant. However, it can vary with each woman so if you don't get pregnant the first month don't panic move a day back or ahead. If that still doesn't work you can always go buy a handy dandy ovulation predictor at any pharmacy.
