where can i get one of these? the one currently installed in my house to work with the hot water tank only (heating is electric not gas), has only been used for about 3 months is malfunctioning. It's tripping the fuse and causes other electrical items to cut off. At the moment there is no hot water as the water tank I think needs this timer to function. Came preinstalled in the property. It's apparently meant for a fully pumped system but I have no idea what one of these is. The water tank is the big old style tank in a cupboard.

If your timer is controlling an immersion heater, it's unlikely to be the timer that is faulty. I would be checking the immersion heater and wiring for a fault. What is tripping ? a MCB or an RCD.

an electronic programmer like the one you mention usually has a maximum load of 6amps.

if it's being used to control an immersion heater, which is what it sounds like, they run at around thirteen amps, which will overload the timer.

in an electric only property, you should have a large prelagged cylinder for your water heating, with two immersion heater elements in it. the bottom one will heat up during the economy 7 (off peak) period, and the top one should be a daytime boost if the hot water runs out.

one of these should do the trick.
