Last month my boyfriend and i had sex and the condom broke, I took the MAP and at the time I was just ending my period and I took the MAP. three days ago (When I was expecting my period *I've had cramps and all* , We had sex again and the condom broke, I took MAP the next morning after we had sex (less than 24 hours) I have not started my period, I am three day's late, Did taking MAP when I was supposed to start my period mess up my period cycle? I need serious answers.

Also...I need to be put on birth control and I don't know how to tell my parents, Should I be flat out honest with them? my boyfriend and I have been together for almost 9 months now, I think they have a feeling that we have had sex, but I am still a little unsure. Once again, I need serious answers about my period, the MAP and BC so I will stop flipping out.

MAP is NOT a form of birth control. You should have gotten on birth contorl awhile ago!!!! If you can get ahold of MAP (probably from family planning) you can also get birth control from them. If not tell your mom you needs to have an appointment with your gyny about getting checked out and getting on birth control, because you wnt to be RESPONSIBLE from now on about having safe sex.

Honey- i think you may be over dosing on MAP- that may be the reason why your not getting your period. Your most fertile time is 10-14 days after the first day you get your period so I think your in the clear for the first time you had sex. You should be getting your period two to three days after taking the MAP. Go to the planned parenthood website below- they have really good info on MAP, what happens during your cycle (look under the rythem method) and where there's a local planned parenthood in your area. They can help you with birth control or help you decide whether to tell your parents and how to tell them. Niether myself or anyone else on this site can offer you advise on that because we don't know your parent's views on sex, birthcontrol etc... Good luck honey (PS: Everyone flipps out about pregnancy after their first time... it goes with the territory and I promise it doesn't stop, we've all been there!)

I don't know about the MAP but from what the other posts say it sounds like it does mess up your cycle and I can't imagine a pill like that wouldn't, but if your worried take a pregnancy test.

About talking to your parents about being on BC, you can do without that by going to a Planned Parenthood clinic and getting a prescription for it without parental consent. That's a little dishonest but if your not comfortable talking to your parents or you think they would say no then it's the good alternative. Also, I just told my parents that I had really bad cramps and they took me to the gyno about it and was put on the pill. Be honest with your doctor when it comes to sex, they won't run and tell your parents, but if you told him/her that your cramps were bad and you had a heavy flow they would prescribe the pill anyway, so it's a good way around telling your parents your having sex while taking the pill. Good Luck and good for you for being in a long relationship and taking the responsibility to protect from an unplanned pregnancy.

Hmmm... first thing i would suggest - change your brand of condoms. BTW - you do know that latex dissolves in vaseline, if that's what's making them break? NO PETROLEUM PRODUCTS WITH LATEX!

I would suggest you figure out which parent would be the most receptive, get them alone and ask them.

I don't know what's the chances of the MAP failing, but I would suggest that frequent overdoses are not healthy. A MAP is just a triple-dose of regular birth control pills, I'm told.

If it didn't work, you won't have to use birth control but you will still have to tell your parents in a few months.

First off you and your boyfriend need stronger condoms.
Secondly the morning after pill isn't a guarantee. Maybe your just late or something. If you got money find a free clinic and get a pregnancy test and all that other ****. They can put you on birth control without parental consent if your 16^. But i say talk to whoever more understanding and tell them. Unless there God fairing Christians who would lock you in the closet if they hear the word sex.

Ok, number one - those condoms are too small for your boyfriend.
Two - I got put on the pill whenI was 16. Im 23 now. I just kind of eased into a sex conversation and tell your mom that you think youre ready and youre trying to be responsible and dont want to bring a baby into your life yet.

She will respect you for saying the responsibility bit.

Im sure she doesnt want a grandaughter right now, as my mom didnt. She was a little upset but got me on the pill the next day. Now, Im 23, I DONT have any kids thanks to the pill and I will have one when Im ready.

The hardest part is saying it first. After that, everything moves along. Just do it soon so you dont have to worry about it anymore and you can stop messing up your body with the MAP.

Good luck!

Start off saying, "Mom, Dad, I think we need to discuss some of the facts of life..."

If you don't feel comfortable talking to your parents, try Planned Parenthood. They can help you at a low cost and give good advice. They are totally non-judgmental, their only concern is your well-being. They are also confidential and offer medical exams as well as birth control.

first of all the MAP isnt always a gurentee, so if youve missed ur period you need to get a preggo test.. and since the condoms just keep busting for some reason... make him double bag it.... and be honest with your parents it works better than lieing.
