i disagee, i think the american government wont legalise it for two reasons.Firstly, alot of voters are against the idea of it and secondly because people who smoke weed often try other drugs like cocaine and lsd. Altho, i think legalising it would make it easier to deal with as it could be regulated instead of pushing it under ground. Follow Amsterdam!

the reason that the government made weed illegal in the first place goes back to where most of the laws of this country are based. most of the laws of this country are based on the laws of puritan society. the Puritans were a group of very pious Christians who can over from England in the 15 and 16 hundreds. from there perspective, all drugs and alcohol were the "work of the devil". so ,consequently, strict limitations were set on alcohol and tobacco and weed was made illegal and this has yet to change.

Like I said earlier today I think alcohol is way more detrimental to our society than marijuana would ever be.
People could grow tobacco on there own if they really wanted to, but they don't they would rather buy it.
I think if marijuana was sold commercially people would be too lazy to grow it and would buy it.
Personally, I feel in the next generation or two it will be legalized.
It is legal for medical use in somewhere between 9 to 11 states.

The reason it is illegal is because they put it into a dangerous drug category. The government should make weed legal and they would be able to tax it if it was sold. If it was legal you would be able to grow your own if you wanted. Tobacco is taxed but they don't stop you from growing your own if you wanted to.

Nope, that's not it. Hemp is a little easier to grow than, say, tobacco, but not so much so that people who really wanted to smoke couldn't grow thier own - and they don't.
It's illegal for a variety of historical and political reasons, none of which are very good. If legalized, it'd be perfectly econonical to produce profitably and tax effectively, just like tobacco and alcholhol. In fact, most tobacco companies have registered trademarkes for products they'd produce if it ever were decriminalized.

Becuz of the jealous dorky geek politicians - back at the turn of the century their then young future wives used to be out toking it up and getting rogered hard by all the cool stoners while the young geek future politicians were home popping zits and taping up their buddy-holly glasses. Ever since then they've had a chip on their shoulders about pot and henceforth made it illegal, which carried on through the generations.

1) Punctuation is a wonderful thing
2) If it were legal, it would be grown as a crop and taxed, just like tobacco
