A zebra is black because if you shaved all the fur off a zebra the skin is mostly black - so it's black with white stripes actually.

I think it is a matter of opinion.
The answer to this question comes down to perspective. Many zoologists would say that a zebra is white because its stripes end towards the belly and the belly is mostly white. Others would say that a zebra is black because if you shaved all the fur off a zebra the skin is mostly black. So it really depends on how you want to look at it

One day the little zebra said to his witch doctor zebra,am I white with black stripes or black with white stripes, the witch doctor said only the creator knows the answer to that you must ask him.

black with white stripes --- shave off the hair and it's black skin underneath.
white with black stripes --- the stripes end on the belly and the belly is white.
So you choose - either one is good!
