When my Dr did the same to me it was 10 Am in the morning. I went home lost my mucous plug around 2 Pm went into labor at 10 Pm that same night. Had my baby at 532PM next afternoon. I bet your close I'm so jealous I'm only at 35 weeks today takes forever doesn't it? GOOD LUCK!

When the doctor does this procedure, you do get some brown discharge. It is old blood. Very normal. Doctors sweep your membranes to help speed along labor. It doesn't always work, but it does in some cases. Best of luck!

That can usually aid in starting labor. I had 2 friends have this done...one went into labor 6 hours later, another went 2 weeks overdue. Brown discharge may be blood. Brown is usually a sign that it is old blood. Could be a side effect of the exam. I wouldn't be too worried, but if it continues you may want to call the nurse just to be sure.

I am 40 weeks today and 3-4 cm dialated....my doctor swept my membranes today also....the color if from your muscu plug...sometimes its a brownish color and sometimes its a pinkish color..mine was pink. so dont worry! the doctor sweeps your membrane to help move things a long...sometimes it works and sometime it doesnt!...im hopeing it worked for me!..lol..hope it works for you too!!...good luck!

that is your "mucous plug" it needs to be cleared before the baby comes. yes, it is a brownish or pinkish tinged discharge and it is normal and nothing to worry about. get ready, you will have a baby any day now. congrats!

if they did the membrane sweep~ your mucas plug came out. later on the night you should be ready to deliver thats what happend to me . CONGRADULATIONS!!

just old blood. that sometimes happens ask the doctor if its really bothering you it could be your bloody show starting

Well It could mean the baby pooped in the amnionic fluid, If it was anything to be concerned about Im sure the doctor would have told you.
