Even though I am a smoker you are correct.
I personally feel that it is rude to throw your butts around instead of disposing of them. They do not biodegrade properly and are bad for the birds and environment.
I feel that even as a smoker there is a common courtesy rule that applies.
Have a wonderful day and if speaking to your neighbor is not going to happen then in order to help keep your community in good condition please pick them up and trash them. They are an eye sore. Maybe if he/she sees your efforts they will cease their abusive and rude behavior.

Rude is just an opinion so if you think its rude than thats your opinion and you should voice it. Im a smoker i throw my butts everywhere but if someone says somethign I listen and if they are polite about it then i will totally make a change. My old roomie thought it would be sweet if he bought me an ashtray as a non confrontational way of facing the butt issue. I totally dug it. giant flower pots work too. Give them a gift to solve the problem and maybe theyll give you the gift of listening.

It's rude! Only careless smokers who smoke there lungs black would argue. I just moved to Las Vegas from California, and I know in California, it is considered littering. You can get fined. I'd write them a demand letter asking them to clean up there trash, or you will turn them into the city. It's a start. Good luck, and too you disgusting smelly smokers, YOU STINK! Get over the fact that we don't want to smell and breath in your crap smoke!!!!!

I think your over doing it and so what if your neighbor's smokes let them enjoy there cigarettes. 1. you don't buy them there cigarettes.
2. they are smoking it.
3. they know they are going to get cancer and do they care?
So why do you care worry about your self if you don't want to smell the cigarettes smoke just closed your window or door or move.

Its rude for sure. I am a smoker, but I always respect peoples property and will not smoke around people who do not smoke. It is my choice to smoke, and it is their choice not to, and I think its only respectable to keep it that way. I would kindly ask them if they would not mind keeping their butts in a receptacle, and if that does not work, I would tell them you will get the police involved for littering.
Good Luck!

I'm a smoker and yes, that seems rude. Perhaps buy him a nice ashtray as a neighborly gesture? They're pretty inexpensive and hopefully your neighbor will get the hint.

while i am the first to say if someone wants to smoke then it is up to them-so long as it does not offend anyone else. he is showing his rudeness by having no regard for your feelings-it is quite right what the poster above says-whats wrong with an ashtray?. i would call him an ignorant pig.

clean up the mess for him, this might show him that you don't enjoy him making this mess. While doing this u could even look like ur disgusteted with this problem, like holding your breath or coughing. Maybe even soon he will stop smoking soon and we will live in a better community =)!
