Yes, I believe that we choose the people we are closest to. And it would have been your adopted parents that you chose. Actually, you probably all made the plans together, including the adoption. Being adopted doesn't screw everything up, it's all just part of the plan.

well....the only way you'd get to pick your parents before birth is if you had enough of an awareness to make a choice. Even then, clarity of awareness will contribute to the quality of your choice.

However, most people do not have such an awareness without dedicating several past lives to mental and spiritual development equivalent to high ranking buddhists.

So....the short version would be mostly a no.

Hmmmmm as for picking your adopted mom, you did if you like each other.

Being adopted does not screw up everything. you'll be fine

We have absolutely no choice in who our parents are. Just think about it... how many years old are humans before they can actually start making cognitive decisions? What you are suggesting is that even before we exist we are making choices.

I suppose that in a spiritual context this question could have some merit. For example, some may believe the soul chooses which physical being to become part of.

Even so, religions that believe in reincarnation also believe that their behavior here on earth determines there next coming. So I suppose that could be loosely interpreted to what you are saying.

Anything that results in our being separated from our natural parents will leave us with an emptiness that can never be filled. There is nothing that can be done for what has transpired in the past. The best we can do is make the best of the lives we're living today. If you've been blessed with adopted parents, love them.

I don't think we "pick" anything in the normal sense, but I like to think of it as when we are created in the biological sense, we become made up of selective dominant genetic traits and tendencies from our biological parents. Then after we are born, our experiences in the world are shaped by influences in our environment, primarily from whoever raises us. Being adopted doesn't mess up anything, it just means that you were given genetic material by your birth mom, but your "real" mom (at least in my opinion) is the one that gives you everything else!

We might not "pick" these things consciously, but they are selected somehow, and it all comes together in an amazingly complex process to shape what kind of person we become!

here is what i think...

we are given parents that are supose to be for us, some parents arnt good, abusers, or whatever. But, those lessons teach, everything is the way it is for a reason....

kids who were adopted have a reason to. There real parents had something going on and couldnt handle a kid, or wasnt aloud, so the adopted parent takes charge. Which, they teach you...

Other kids, with nice parent also learn...

you learn different lessons, and they each lead you to what your supose to do...

sorry if it is confusing......

Yes, you chose both sets of parents, your biological for the genes, and your adopted for the raising experience. I think some of us were really cazy to choose the parents we did, but we are still here, so they must have done at least one thing right

You can't really ask that without expecting multiple answers, as each religious belief has their own view on such a topic. Genetically speaking, our physical bodies are chosen by the contributions provided by both parents(in a standard conception), however matters or the spirit, or soul are viewed individually. I myself think that our soul develops much like our physical form, so my answer is No. I think our soul is just as new as our body, as it is a unique thing, that is the very root of who we all are as people.

No we don't have the ability to choose who our parents are. I'm sure some wish they could....hahaa

Being adopted makes you even more exceptional. A family chose you to have for their own, they could have chosen anyone but they chose you. You're lucky and blessed!

Not really you see your looking at everything for face value. Parents are only to raise us until we are strong enough to fly from the nest. Like Jesus told His biological mother on the cross,Woman behold thy son ( He was referring to a disciple) then He turned to the disciple and said behold thy mother. So it really doesn't matter as long as you were cared for while you couldn't care for yourself. Take care and may God bless you spiritually.
