If the supporters of both parties are kept busy arguing over issues that should not be issues they can keep selling us out.

Well, the only way to have a democracy with minimal "sellout" is if there were no MAJOR parties, but instead major coalitions.
That's sort of what the Dems and Reps are really, many divergent factions seeking power so much that they're willing to side with people they only tangentially agree with.
So you may be a conservative Christian (for example), but since the only way to have power over policy decisions is to be a Republican, you HAVE to sell out to interests that may be in many ways, antithetical to your morals. Or if you're a social liberal, you'll have to be a Democrat to get your views heard, even if you don't agree with a lot of their rhetoric on things like protectionism or taxes.

Its fun...I come here to argue so I don't with my wife. She gets mad and throws s***t. Plus I don't have anyone left that will talk politics with me. I use this more to vent than anything. I do try to keep it civil and intelligent, but sometimes it is hard to play fair. I believe in the need for checks and balances...so I believe each party provides good.
They have both sold us out. Did that right around the mid 70's. Kind of sad the way this country is turning out. Wonder if there is one thing in history that if changed would have changed the whole sell out corruption problem that we see now?

Until we all decide to vote for the right person, not the right party. As long as big industry owns the politicians we will have the bad government we now have. It always comes down to voting between 2 or 3 candidates. If everyone would vote we wouldn't be getting the accepted president, but the best.

When we barks, we don't think, so they make us bark... Because if we think too much, people will wake up...
Parties don't really care about the people, they just care to go where is the money...
When a president became elected for the first time, he spent the next 4 years in power to make friends and get even more money to win the next term, so they are not really concern about the real problems...
