D and C (Dilation and Curettage) is dilation of the uterus and extraction to remove all traces of a miscarriage. It's only done when a doctor feels that a woman's body did not entirely expel the baby, so most women who miscarry don't have to have a D&C.
D&C is also commonly performed following an abortion in cases where the uterus fails to fully empty. Abortions before 12 weeks performed in a manner which is similar to the D&C. The uterus is dilated, the baby is killed and extracted and the uterus is scraped.
D&C can be used to treat problems like abnormal bleeding due to fibroids and cysts.

It stands for Dilation and Cutterage (scraping of the uterus and its contents)
Reasons for doing a D&C: Uterine scraping (D and C) may be done to:
Diagnose conditions using the tissue samples collected (biopsies)
Treat irregular or heavy bleeding
Remove fetal or placental tissue -- used for some elective or therapeutic abortions and to remove any remaining tissue after a spontaneous abortion (miscarriage)

Dialation and curettage. It is a procedure where they scrape and collect tissue from inside the uterus.
It is not done during pregnancy, unless you have had a miscarriage

D&C is dilation and curettage. They dilate your cervix and use a gentle suction to remove the contents of the uterus when you have an early miscarriage.

Yikes. make sure you understand what's going on and why. I heard that line 25 years ago...
"The baby's dead, we're going to do a D&C".
I blocked the doorway and told the doctor he was off the case.
The dead baby is now a 24 yr old college graduate, 6'3" 240lbs of rugby 8-man.

dilation and curtillage.
its done by docs to clear out a foetus that has either died or is damaged.
you are sedated and minor surgery to clear the uterus is carried out under local anasthesia.
it can be done during an abortion procedure as well.

it means dialtion and cutterage. did you miscarry? if so it's the same procedure as an abortion pretty much. The open ya uterus and suction the baby out. what is left of it that may be stuck against ur uterine wall is cut out and suctioned.
