You can't beat the Twelfth of July for a really glorious, colourful pageant but it's only celebrated in the north, and only by the Protestants. It's still well worth seeing as its probably the most spectacular celebration in Europe, especially when the Army is called in to keep the Prods and Catholics from tearing each other apart. Just stand back and enjoy.

St Patrick's Day, March 17, Easter, Whit weekend (usually the first long weekend in June), Lughnasadh is coming back again (called Lammas in other places), Hallowe'en (my favourite), Christmas and New Year's.

July 12th is a day in NI, not in the Republic.
