I'm sexually active with him, and I'd feel more relaxed if he was with me. Is this common? Has anyone ever done this before? Can anyone else relate?

Its fine, so long as he stops at the waiting room. There may not be any Field & Stream or Hot Rod magazines. Plenty of People and Home & Garden.

It's totally not weird, I wouldn't worry about that. I have gone with my long term boyfriend several times. In fact, the first time I ever got a pap smear my boyfriend was right there with me with a look of horror on his face when she inserted the speculum. It was pretty funny. It's a good thing to go with your boyfriend, too, so that he can understand what you have to put up with. If he's comfortable with going with you, then take him.

Weird is the last thing it is. It is becoming quite common indeed. I've been going with women for years. Some coincidentally have the same Ob/Gyn by the way. He was cool & very professional which helped however I know he recognized me.

If he is a long term boyfriend i dont see the harm in it...my husband has gone to those appts with me before and it made me feel less nervouse! he has seen it all before upclose and personal so whats there to be embarassed or ashamed of?? if it makes you feel better than take him with you!

It depends totally on you...its not weird, he is your sexual partner, and the gynecologist is considering him, as a part of your active sexual life...however, he does not hace to go into the office if you feel embarrased....That is for sure

Its not weird at all. Its your body and if you are comfortable having him there then you have every right to take him along.

Sure, I've gone to planned parenthood with some of my girl friends. It makes them feel less slutty.
